I lent my student id to one of my friends and he lost it. I nearly didn't get into my final exams because of it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,778 ✭✭✭✭Kold

I'd give it if I thought he could get away with it.

If he were in So Cal he could go over on Alvara St in LA and get a fake one for a few bucks that would pass any bouncer's inspection.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,088 ✭✭✭✭_Kaiser_

    Are you for real??

He's 17 like. He'll be legal to drink in another few months. So what if he has a few drinks. You hardly waited until your 18 to drink did you?

This happened to me 2 years ago with my brother and ya I gave it to him no problem. As long as he is half sensible I dont see the problem.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 27,857 ✭✭✭✭Dave!

Yes, give him the ID and tell him to drink sensibly.

Lighten up and give it to him. He's 17, i don't see the problem as long as he promises to take care of it.

17 has to be the worse age when growing up, your in no mans land! Give him a break

    Yes, just yes.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,745 ✭✭✭doonothing

the mere fact he even asked you shows a lot more cop on than you'd normally see from a 17 year old who needs ID.
    givit.

Tee hee!!! Yeah OP, just give the damn thing to him. For god's sake, why are you even asking for advice?! Are you one of these ridiculously over-protective siblings who's "been through it all and lucky to get out the other side/seen it all and it's not pretty". For ****'s sake, lighten up. You're a 21-year-old - why do you feel you have to act the middle-aged mammy?!

She did not lose it! She knew you'd get another one for around a fiver so she kept it.

No way dude, 20 is the worst. You're old enough to go out and then places start saying there 21's. Headwrecking!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,611 ✭✭✭✭Sam Vimes

Very very few places are actually 21s. In fact i doubt any of them are. If the bouncer says "21s lads", he means "**** off".

a bouncer at Q bar once told a group of lads in front of us in the queue the place was closed. Q bar has no walls, just windows and you could clearly see the place was jumping :D

Tell him you'll only give it to him if he makes out with you...

If he's willing to do it there's obviously drink involved so don't give it to him.

But if he turns you down just act all pissed off with him for the rest of you lives.

    Problem solved!

I remember reading about 7 years ago that the law changed and that bars/clubs could not legally refuse entry to anyone over 18. Grounds for refused entry could be drunkenness, possibly innapropriate clothing (though a bit risky) etc

Happened to an ex of a friend one night we were all "out" she was 20 at the time and they said 21´s and wouldnt let her in though the rest of us all were 22/23 and they didnt ask us for ID. This was 2 days after the law change. I mentioned it to the bouncer but being as tik as he was - looked at me like I was speaking sandscrit.

Anybody know anything more about this...?
