    kk so

when you click a program on your dock, it starts to bounce, then when it's just about open, a black arrow goes underneath it, right?

this is where the trouble is, when i click the programs, (there's only a few that dont work, i only really care about safari working), they start to bounce, then stop bouncing as if i never did anything to them. i've uninstalled and reinstalled them, nothing happens, has this ever happened to anyone else, and does anyone know how to fix this?

Could you provide a little more info as to when this happens? Does it happen the first time you start up a programme, or when they are already running (when the black arrow is underneath them)? You could be mixing up programmes (applications) and windows, but I'd need to know exactly when this is happening to be sure.

That's strange, what exact programs does this happen with?

This happened me once - I removed all the affected shortcuts from the dock and put them back on directly from the Applications folder. No problems after that - hope it helps you!

You should dig into the logs on the console, located under /Applications/Utilities.
If you have a specific error message, that will help us to further drill down to the root cause of your problem.
