    Hi,

I am looking for a power converter for my motor - one of those things that I can plug into the ciggy lighter and it has a regular house plug on the other end so I can use my laptop on the go.

Any suggestions on where I can pick one of these up? Is there a campervan accessories supplier (or something) in Dublin/Kildare?

    cheers

If its only the laptop you want to use, I'd do it the other way round.

Laptops usually run on something between 5V and 24V, depending on the make. There are chargers available that allow you to plug the laptop straight into your 12V cig socket.

This way you can save yourself the unneccesary conversion to 230v, which eats a lot of power.

Thanks peasant, I will look into one of those for my laptop. However, I will probably need a power converter for other stuff, basicaly an office in the back of my 4x4 - printer/scanner.

    cheers.

    Halfords and Maplins supply inverters.
Check what power consumption your printer etc use[ie. watts] and get an inverter about 100watt above your needs. Inverters can flatten your battery quite quickly if battery is not good.
