iPod problem

Anybody any ideas on this? My iPod is not being picked up in iTunes at all, therefore it wont sync. Whne I import music and go to sync absolutely nothing happens. Its only happened in the last couple of days, I'd no problems at all before then. It sometimes tells me I need to update my software, but the computer wont let…

Try a different USB port. If it detects it, uninstall it and let Windows reinstall it.

No joy. Its detecting it, but wont let me un-install it. I'm stumped.
