Was watching 'The Real Hustle' last night on tv and remember a trick that was done on me in a pub a few years ago. Four coins were placed on the bar in a square shape with each coin touching 2 others.

I was told to touch one of the four coins while the hustler wasn't looking and then he was able to tell me which coin it was. Now i made sure i only barely touched the coin and did not move it but i could never figure out how it was done. He got it right every time.

It was only me and him so he had no help, i made him face the other way to make sure he wasn't using the mirror behind the bar and i even checked to see if the heat off my hand was leaving condensation on the coins. To this day i'm still stumped:confused:

Anyone know how this was done or have any other similar tricks?

Smoke and mirrors I think, did you notice any smoke?

Was he working alone ? If there was a group of on-lookers, one of them could have been tipping the con-man with subtle gestures.

I'm a bit of a master of this trick myself, don't know whether I should spill the beans or not. Been using it for years and still works a treat! Maybe via PM.....

Easy version is for your accomplice to put his glass down near a corresponding corner of his beermat.

That is how it is done....

Same with the metal beer stands that have all the holes in it. You tell a fella to pick a hole whilst not looking and then your "prop" puts his beer glass on a nearby beer holder on the exact spot you picked... Works everytime.
