Yeah, I've been following this game for a while after a friend of mine at work showed me some google videos of it. The mounted combat, naval combat, the whole resource trade, crafting, hiring NPC vendors to sell your wares, player created, populated trade routes with player pirating groups stealling valuable resources. Bounty Hunters, armed player escorts protecting guild war supply routes. The scope is absolutely astounding and looking at the site it seems as though they are wrapping all of the endless freedom in a very shiny and efficient engine.

Think UO meets Vanguard, meets Eve Online. This will be a game I will be relentlessly following, hoping to get into beta when its launched and will definitely be pre-ordering. Anyone that wants true freedom in a game but is annoyed at other games' inabilty to produce the full freedom experience will be doing likewise.

UO was great in the begining, but was basically destroyed by "noobs" disgruntled by free range PvP. Eve is a great idea but the lack of true control of the players ship's is infuriating at times.

However, this is a game that will be made or broken by the size of its player base, and sadly that means it needs to appeal to the newer player. I predict this will be a game where alot and I mean ALOT of hardcore guilds and solo players will immediately migrate to. Creating a fairly large game world that will be very noob unfriendly. After 1-2 years when it receives a large enough media it will receive an influx of new players that will either make the game magnificient or cause it to crumble under the age old paradox of trying to satisfy everyone, instead of sticking to the original game goals.

But either way, it should be a hell of a ride to its triumphant rise to the greatest MMO of all time, or burning wreck of what could have been the greatest MMO of all times :D

    In any case, tell a friend++ :p

    P.s. Boards.ie guild, anyone? ;)

Guild beta sign-ups are now up, gogo!

This definatly looks like it could be a great MMO, with a huge amount of features that will (hopefully) broaden the appeal of MMO's. But as Ivan said, it will be made or broken by the amount of players it has. And it could really suffer with Warhammer and the new Warcraft expansion.

p.s. I'm definatly in for a Boards.ie guild for this. Did you enter it, or will i?

that beta signup thing is age old... =[

Kiith, you need a website to prove you have a guild, at least in most situations like that. You also need a reasonable sized members list.

Also, I've heard rumours that the actual beta will be announced for some time in December. I'm sure hoping so :D

    IE signed up anyhow
You're all more than welcome along should we get spare keys or whatever way it works.

Still, with Darkfall, I'll believe it when I see it.
    Kinda lost faith now.

Lost faith how? Asp's preview only firmly engrained in me that this game is going to be pretty close to as awesome as I expect it to be and let me tell, that is some might high expectations to meet :p

After looking through the forums and what has been shown through video footage... tbh it kinda looks like a website advertising vapourware. Has anyone actually got into the beta here? I'm finding it hard to believe we would ever see this game released.

  • Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 4,560 Mod ✭✭✭✭Ivan

Asp, the guy who had a look in the game in the preview up there ^^ said the same thing. He thought it was just going to be vapourware too but he got to play it and thought it was awesome...

There isnt actually a beta going atm, as far as I am aware... there is a page up for guild beta invites which they always do, quite a while before the actualy invites go out as it will be a big list that apply...

Clan beta is closed and has been for some time.
You should still register a clan though, just in case.
You do need 10 people(might have to be registered on darkfall forums too), a website and a forum though.

I highly doubt this game is vaporware.

wat is goin on with the release date of this is just been TBA TBA TBA all the time....its getting very annoying seein as it looks awsome. just cant wait to get my hands on it

  • Registered Users Posts: 925 ✭✭✭KoKane

Yeah its been like that for a long long time allright, so much so that people have begun to speculate that this was just an attempt at getting bought out by some rich publisher or something, that there was never any intention of releasing or caring for a good MMO.

It does look "perfect" on paper, so that itself was gonna cause such speculation too.

Have any of you read how they have claimed they have some new uber networking technology which will allow tens of thousands of players on one server, with people from Japan pinging < 50.

Sounds like utter bollox to me, but someone mentioned Nasa aswell in the same debate lol.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,699 ✭✭✭Da Bounca

Not Nasa, but some aerospace & defense company fund Adventurine. No joke.

  • Registered Users Posts: 925 ✭✭✭KoKane

    Interesting.
Hope they pull it off, because it really would be spectacular.
But I'll remain sceptical for now :(

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,699 ✭✭✭Da Bounca

Yah, I'm hopefull, but perhaps a small amount of skepticism is healthy.

Now that the idea of an epic game is truly out there, someone will eventually make it.
