    Heyos,

I was just watching a video on the net (http://www.metacafe.co.il/watch/704958/ultimate_colored_smoke_bomb/) about how to make a smoke grenade/flare. It looks pretty cool, but I vaguely remember somebody telling me you can't get salt peter in Ireland. I just watched this now, so I havent had the chance to check it out in a garden store, but does any know if you can you legally get it in Ireland?

    I wanna make me a flare :D

You can get it alright, can also be obtained from nitrate heavy fertiliser or soil, but its a constituent of black powder which is listed as an explosive in this country so the legality might be a bit on the dodgy side.
There are better ways of making smoke bombs, the ones made for theatrical use and the like.

This is a slightly dodgy topic methinks..
Playing with Potassium nitrate is not something that should be taken on lightly..

Well for the record I am not advocating anybody goes and does anything dangerous or illegal, I'm just wondering if it is possible to get the required materials legally in Ireland :)

kowloon - what other ways do you know of how to make smoke flares? The method shown in the video seems quite inexpensive which would be a key factor ;)
