If you could get anyone over to do a gig in Ireland who would it be? Don't get me wrong we get some great stuff here but the likes Chris Rock and Dane Cooke aren't going to be doing a set here anytime soon.

For me it would Dave Chapelle or either of the 2 above, commercial but very funny guys.

I'd like to see Robin Williams do a stand-up gig in Ireland.

    We talking current comedians yeah?

    I'll plump for Demetri.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 25,243 ✭✭✭✭Jesus Wept

Eddie Murhpy (in his glory days)
    Chris Rock.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,247 ✭✭✭✭6th

Well mine are current but as realistic as Richard Pryor playing the point so lets say of all time.

Robin williams would be good too if he and Connolly were on the same night I'd probably go Williams (have never seen Billy live).

6th I'd say that opinion would have some people up in arms! I'd prolly go to the start of Williams and then leg it to the 2nd half of Connolly!

nah I was thinking rather then them doing a standard stand-up routine we could get Parkinson on the stage to "interview" the 2 of them and see where it goes. Ah that parkinson show was a classic

I would most definitely pick Dave Chappelle! Most people only think of him for his show but his stand up is so good as well.
Hmm can't really think of anyone else right now, flight of the conchords maybe

Also just to clarify, are we not allowed to talk about MCD acts(such as the man in my sig) at all at all, like can we talk about their old tours, shows not in ireland and dvds and stuff like that?

playa3, it's a big no-no at all at all, unfortunately!

And on another note, I'm Rick James bitch!

Emo Phillips... and I saw him in the Iveagh Gardens this summer!
    Feckin brilliant!!
Think the guys might need his own thread on here. Best one-liners ever!

Dane Cooke is the worst comedian of all time.

Great gig alright, didn't wanna leave the stage with everyone outside queuing up for next gig. An absolute master.

Given that Bill Hicks is dead (he played the Tivoli once), as is Mitch Hedberg, I'd like to see Jerry Seinfeld as one of the greats I've never seen perform here.

Take it back, take it back right now! Or there will be Vigilante GoodYear's released with your name on them!

I'd bring back Dane Cook, saw him two years ago at the Denis Leary gig and since then been following all his work. Would also like to see Chapelle.

    Cook was in Ireland?!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 44,200 ✭✭✭✭Basq

Dane Cook is very hit and miss - but similar to Peter Kay (not in terms of similar comedy at all), he excels with his observations. I've seen practically all his stuff and his 3 funniest routines are:

    (a) his girlfriend's sleeptalking
    (b) himself and his girlfriend fighting when living together (so true...!)
    (c) trip to the cinema with his girlfriend ("I just came..!").

Not much of this stuff is on YouTube as i wanted to post them up!

Yeah, he supported Denis Leary and i think he played his own small gig as well.

Anyone hear his newest venture into country music? Absolutely woeful. His acting career ain't much better.. was good in 'Mr Brooks' but not much else.

Stephen Lynch or maybe Pablo Francisco.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,788 ✭✭✭Vikings

Yeah basquille got it right, he supported Denis Leary sometime 2005 i think, possibly to do with some Heineken related green festival if I recall correctly, which I probably dont.

I think it was Patrice O Neal who was the other comedian, he was very good as well. Must get some of his stuff to catch up on.

Great gig though and would love to see Dane again.

Has got to be Daniel Kitson. He has played Ireland in the past but not since Kilkenny in 2005. Had to travel to Edinburgh to see him a few years ago, worth every penny.

If I had to pick someone who has never appeared it would be Jerry Seinfeld.

    Dane Cook, fo' sho'.

Or <snip> or so, but I can't go so, you know, he should really work his schedule around me and my availability :D

    <snip>

I think most of my wants have been mentioned: Emo Philips, Robin Williams and I'd love to see Stephen Wright too.

    Guys n Gals

We go to the bother of posting a charter and other fine treats such as stickies at the top of every forum in the vain hope that you people may actually, one day, read them.

Alas I have had to soil my hands and rummage through posts and edit out references to forbidden subjects - Next person to post anything related to MCD gigs gets a week long ban.

As the sticky says "there is to be no further discussion of MCD or events hosted by MCD"

My posting of that sentence does not, however, relieve you of your responsibility of familiarising yourself with aforementioned charter and stickies.

Thank you for your attention. Normal programming will resume momentarily

Dunno if he's ever been here but Jim Gaffigan apart from him all my fav comedians come to ireland. I never did get to see Mitch Hedberg live though.. i was planning on see him at Cat's laugh but he went and died on me

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 451 ✭✭Gross Halfwit

    George Carlin
    Jim Gaffigan
    Andrew "Dice" Clay
Louis CK ... is actually coming! Sweet.
    Patton Oswalt.

If being dead wasnt a problem then:
    Mitch Hedberg
    Bill Hicks
    Richard Pryor
    Rich Jenni
    Rodney Dangerfield.
