Um, my charger just went "Poof"

I was hooking my charger up to a 1300mah G&P battery via a adaptor cable (large to mini type) and it suddenly went "Poof" and I'm pretty sure I saw whispy strands of smoke and smelled hot plastic.

I quickly separated the cables and unplugged it (on hind sight I should have plugged it out at the wall rather than directly) - sure enough the charger was hot in a small area on its surface.

I let it cool down and then reconnected it to the 3600mah battery I have and it seems to be fine, at least no more smoke and funny smells.

Is my house going to burn down because of this?

Un-plug it and throw it out. Electrical fires are the main cause of most fire related deaths.

i would not trust that hive..if its one of the ones that comes in the box with the aeg, most of them are pretty crap to be honest, ranging from pretty crap with top end aegs to steaming piles of poo for the clones...

did the magical blue smoke come out of the charger or the battery (just out of curiousity)

id still probably say it's best to throw out the charger just to be safe, if its only a cheap one then it's no big deal

i have a couple of spare mini type chargers that come free with clones if you want one?

Edit: strike that, i can only find one, i think i may have thrown a few out, the one i have is a 9.6v mini charger, yours if you want it, but it can only charge 9.6

No, its wasnt our old friend the mysterious blue smoke of mysterious mystery. Its been on again (in a glass dish) for about an hour now with no ill effects. I think a bit of the soldering inside may have burned up or something. I'll test it a little and see what happens. Stupid TM little-beige charger.

Unfortunately both the batteries I have are 8.4v so the charger isnt much use to me right now, however I am planning to get one for the MP5 so I might take it if you dont find a more worthy cause.

Just as a recommendation I have the first charger on this page and it does the job nicely for me.

    http://www.airsoftworld.net/acatalog/Battery_Chargers.html

Definately feel far safer using it charging a battery overnight than those POS ones that come with the clones.
