I generally multitable 3 tables with 30 buy ins at a level.

But should the number of buy ins required increase if i was to move up to 5-6 tables?

maybe one day even playing 8? (not sure how feasible this really is)

I think a case could be made either way.

Firstly if you can manage to play 6 tables as well as 3 then since your win rate and variance don't change then you could argue that there is no need to change the normal amount of buy-ins you use. Anyway that's a big if.

On the other hand, if you happened to go on a major downswing on all tables at once then a lot of damage could be done to your bankroll before you could extricate yourself from it.

So maybe you could give yourself a bit of an extra cushion in terms of your Bankroll - maybe another 5 to 10 buy-ins or so. I think most important of all though is figuring if you can actually manage 5 or 6 tables at once, I struggle myself if I play more than 3 shorthanded.

yeah its the tilt factor/downswing during a session which made me pose the question.
I can play 5 tables on stars comfortably but i really struggle to play 4 on i-poker but i-poker is where i want to be.

why, just because the software is worse?

I'm not sure whether you get the hands faster on iPoker (Stars used to be so slow but I think they have sped up). But if you do you shouldn't compare 5 tables of iPoker at 100 hands/hr to 5 tables of Stars at 80. Number of hands/hr is really what is important, not number of tables.

This is a great point that i hadent considered...thanx for your input RT

I've been experimenting with this lately..... My findings..... I'm always well bankrolled for the level I'm playing with 25 buy in's being my minumum and I prefer a lot more if possible...

As regards the multitabling... You have to find your own optimum point of tables your an play..... I used to play 4 always and then increased it 1 at a time up to 8..... without any real significient drop in bb/100.... last month I did a kind of experiment playing up to 16 tables and always 12 but at this many tables my poker definately went downhill and I was just a clicking machine but still managed a small profit over 70k hands last month but the RB/Bonus was huge... but even taking this into account my overall monthly profit was about similar to a normal month for me 6 tabling.... I find increasing the number of tables spreads the risk of variance but if you do run bad/tilt you should be very careful as an awful lot of damage can be done very quickly...

For me a 25 buy in roll is sufficient for 6 tables I think.... keep an eye on your bb/100 and see if your rate changes the more tables you play...

ipoker is definately faster then stars for tables. I am still adjusting to it and I am purposefully avoiding the turbo tables which I didn't do on stars

    i don't think so.

Unless if you get 2 outered on one table and tilt on the other 5.

i find it much harder to tilt on 6 tables though, playing just one table someones name will tilt me.

i actually find ipoker really slow, i think even the turbo tables are slower than the normal tables on party. might just be my imagination.
