I remember seeing this on TV about a year / year & half ago. The heads up in episode 5 was a classic. Jan got the other guy to call every time Jan had the best of it, and got him to fold everytime he had the best of it (or at least that's how the edited version looked). It was held in the Merrion.

It was filmed in the Merrion. Why not Ireland. No added money. If memory serves me correct there was 128 entrants of which most were invited. There was a couple of seats (32 I think) left over for locals and satellites which were running on the morning of each heat.
Alot of yanks played, including Ferguson, Hellmuth,Raymer,Moneymaker, Andy Bloch, Clonie Gowen,

Tom Cruises ex Mimi Rodgers played.

Mortenson And Furlong played so I think all Main Event winners bar Varkoyini played since Ungar won in 98...

The deal was if you paid the bobs you got on the box as originally it was to have been 16 x 8 runner sats. This got changed to 8 x 16 runner sats and only half of them got on the telly........ Ask Big Al and Namir...... 2 boys who stumped up the entry fee.....

As usual in those days in the Merrion there was alot of funny goings on....

Chris "All 2ft 3 of him" Moneymaker made a big impact.

He got to the last 5 of one of the NLH supporting events. There was approx 120k chips in play. Chris had 105k the others had about 4k each..........

He came fifth!!!!!!! During this tournament he got everything wrong, betting out of turn, under raising, string betting, dying out of turn etc etc . He then told Paddy the taxi driver he was writing a book on "How To Play Tournament Poker",...... Paddy's response was along the "You must be fookin joking surely you mean How NOT to......" When he came fifth the other four laughed so much at him it's rumored they were unable to continue playing and had to do a 4 way chop...

Chris was heard whinging to Miami John Cernouto about some bad beat or other an everyone around them was falling around laughing at him....

He then proceeded to throw a 15k plus party in the 1/2 50min by in PLH game. They were fighting to get into this game, not just to say they played with him...just to get his money.....

He had a new way of playing. He played every hand on the blind and bought in for a monkey a go. If you raised he would keep reraising until he got the monkey all in....

He would then ask what you got......people would turn up with say QQ Chris would turn over j3 o/s..... Chips he'd shout...;)

Gus Hansen appeared the morning of his heat...... He was under the illusion that the fee was going to be comped...... He obviously didn't know Dave O'Neill too well!!! They filmed the first hour or so without him. The bush telegraph had informed his mates he was on the tap..... Exit stage left the lot of them to go sightseeing????

Phil "All 6ft 10 of him" Hellmuth made his usual grand entrance.... Pushed the door open and strode majestically in, chest out head up etc......
He hears a comment but can't place the voice, all them irish sound the same, "Look it's that Phil Hellmuth off the telly!!!!".
His frame rose up to about 7ft 3 until he sees out of the corner of his eye Padraig Parkinson finishing his sentence with ".....He's nearly as f**king ugly in real life!!!!!":D
