Well lads, I'm hitting Boston for a bit of crimbo shopping in November. As I am currently in the process of purchasing a Tikka T3 lite (.243) I'm hoping to use this opporunity to pick up a scope. Has anyone been to any gun stores in the Boston area? Will it be worth my while buying a scope over there (value wise)? Any…

Well lads,
I'm hitting Boston for a bit of crimbo shopping in November.
As I am currently in the process of purchasing a Tikka T3 lite (.243) I'm hoping to use this opporunity to pick up a scope.
Has anyone been to any gun stores in the Boston area?
Will it be worth my while buying a scope over there (value wise)?
Any hassle bringing it back through the airport?

I can't help you with the Boston area as I've never been there, but I would say that it will be a rare day that you can't find something cheaper in the US than here - especially gun-related stuff.
I wouldn't imagine you would have any problem bringing it back, but it might be worth the little extra it would cost for you to buy a nice padded case for it and stick it in your checked baggage. Even though it's the US, people still get all twitchy when you mention anything about guns in an airport.

I too know nothing of Boston, but I did find this-

I fly into Boston regulary (have relatives who live in western Mass and Cape Cod) but off hand no gun shops in Boston proper that I am aware of. There are shops in the outlining suburbs, throught the state and in the neighbouring states, Maine,New Hampshire, Vermont, Rhode Island & NY state.
LL Bean in Maine used to have a gun room but it has being about ten years since my last visit to Freeport.
