I've recently had a problem with a scope which i'm trying to exchange on the adverts page which got me thinking which type of sights do most airsofters prefer. I've had experience with all types of sights from simple but infaliable iron sights to more complex gear like red dots and night vision scopes (woeful couldn't see a thing). Anyways i'd like to hear more of your experiences on the subject and see how important optics realy are to the game.

open red dot sights are great, have one on my p90, takes no time at all to sight it, also have a 3-9 scope on my m4 which ive yet to use in a skirmish, useful for spotting but maybe not that useful on an m4, hoping to get an l96 soon enough, ill be putting the 3-9 on that

Do you leave both eyes open with your red dot? I can't seem to get the hang of
it, could be the fact that the open sight i'm using at the mo only cost 20 euros

    Red Dot/Holo Sights
the 1.5-5*32 power scope on my Aug is my favorite. Id favour a reflex site on most other airsofts.

At the ranges I usually engage at a telescopic sight is bugger all use to me and frankly, most iron sights just annoy me.

    Red-Dot/Holo FTW.

Out of everything i've tried, scope on the CA Aug A1 has to be my favourite. Well to be Honest this is what i do:
very close/super long range "lobbing" = Folow the stream.
    Medium range, iron sights
    Long, scope.

High power scopes are a waste of time unless using comms and being a spotter. They limit your view to too small an area to be practical with airsoft ranges. The G36 has the best combo, scope with a rail on top, add a red dot/holo sight and away you go.

They way I have found best was.....
Both eyes open, dont focus on the dot and dont worry
if its a sharp or fuzzy dot. focus on the target or out
to infinity and pretend the glass and the dot is not even there or being
projected. Once you get used to doing that it appears as though ya got
a nice dot on your target and its actually painting the target.

With my (realsteel) 20x Leupold Telescopic scope I have recently got excellent results when aiming at a target and firing with both eyes open.

gotta love the red dots as said above me telescopic is a bit of a waste of time given the average engagement distance, plus red dot means both eyes open, which is always useful

    Red Dot/Holo Sights
    2x magnification red dot
has won me many a kill
best thing ever... and it only cost me €23 landed

Picked up an aimpoint replica ages ago and never looked back. I have a G36 with the integrated 3x scope but I rarely use it, truth be told, I rarely have need to use it for anything other than sighting. The eye relief on it is minimal too. That rifle is getting an overhaul at christmas and is getting an aimpoint or an acog (or an Eotech if I can afford it).

    Telescopic Scopes
Iron Sights, then (perhaps) Red Dot.

Didn't like using the Red Dot on my M4, I took to bringing the carry handle every time I went to HRTA and, invariably, always ended up taking the RD off and putting the carry handle back on, after the first 2 games or so. Was gonna get CQB iron sights if I'd kept the M4.

Yet to try the reflex style (Eotech and variations on that theme, not the 'tubular'/'standard scope shape'), but I'll be getting one next month for using with the SIG/MP7.

Hmmm it's a toss up between a Red/Green dot or low magnification scope. Both have their advantages but the best method is both eyes open targeting.

I voted on the holo sights. For the acurate range of an airsoft magnification isn't much good to you. The holo sights good for fast target engagement, you can keep both eyes open and theres no eye relief issues. There like an upgraded iron sight really.

Love the iron sights on the m4, they're very cool, just the front post is a bit big on mine, may shave it to be slimmer.

    wouldn't mind getting a red-dot sight for Dboys' M4 S-System.

    Any advice??
