New freezer makes winter sound effects?

We purchased a whirlpool freezer (standalone standard sized front opening
hinged door model) when we moved into our new house.
It's in our utility room and from the moment it was plugged in it makes
a sound which would be perfect for use in movie soundtracks for
the sound you'd typically associate with a blizzard/wintry wind sound
(a kind of whirring very reminiscent of severe winter conditions!!)
It's not that it is a loud sound - it just is spooky and I wondered if
it might be a symptom of something not being 100% with the appliance.

The freezer seems to be working fine. I'll call up whirlpool tomorrow if
I've time. Does anyone recognize this type of behaviour from a standalone
    freezer ??

There is an air intake fan under some of these models and it simply curculates air past the enclosed coils at the rear. At a guess it's these fans making the noise. It should take ~24hrs for the whole fridge to come to temperature, so expect slightly more fan action while that's happening.

Consider yourself lucky. My fridge makes intermittent noises like someone passing wind, usually when I am standing there with a guest.......... never been able to find reason or cure it and explaining it to the technician was not one of my finest moments!

it's normal no need to worry it's to do with the fan blowing air round
