Cute Eddie has gone underground , spending his hard earned cash from his new contract in some exotic location , no doubt. If he had any balls he would face the music , and explain his teams implosion. But no , the silence is deafening, praying no doubt for a pumas/france final , to explain the disaster ... so he can continue on with his daft selections, in-fighting , and pathetic use of the bench ... if we win 3 triple crowns , i will never forgive eddie for his mismanagment.

EOS is playing it like any shifty Irish politician ...waiting for the storm to blow over while collecting a fat pay package.

I'll be interested to see what the proposed IRFU 'review' of the WC digs up for us. The fact the players are also asking for this moratorium suggests to me that O'Sullivan has lost the support, of at least, some of them.

If that is the case, pay him off and get him out. He's taken us as far as his (limited) tactical acumen can take us. I just don't see O'Sullivan as the man to build a new team. He's just too conservative. He ain't gonna change overnight and that is what we need now. Playing ROG, Stringer and the plus 29 brigade for the next 4 years is counter-productive as they'll be well past it in New Zealand.

Do I expect the IRFU to do this? Probably not. O'Sullivan will probably blame his backroom staff and some of them will be sacrificed while 'Il Duce' is left in power.

If the IRFU is clever, they will give him an ultimatum - 'Win the 6 Nations or you're gone.' That means that when (and it will be when) he goes the new man has just over three years to build an effective squad.

Every top side in pro-sports has high expectations of coaches. If we consider ourselves one of the top nations in rugby then requisite goals need to be set.

Oh and the Lions? You're having a laugh!!

he's most likely at home with his family and out walking the roads of east galway where you can normally find him when not involved with the international set-up

good to hear that P Browne has intimated that there be a fully independent review of the senior set-up and preparation for the RWC

Graham Henry never got the opportunity to lie low. I wonder why that is? I think he should be forced to explain why the most talented Irish team in the history of the game finished with nine points and a negative points difference. Instead of the toothless questions he'll be asked about why he chose Tommy Bowe at wing next January - The next time we hear from him!!!

thats it Davy, at least Graham Henry, love him or hate him, was man eneogh to face the music.
But Eddie is too sneaky for that , hiding behind his newly signed lucrative contract.

    O'Sullivan's future 'threatened' - http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/rugby_union/irish/7039104.stm

Looks like Browne has changed his tune.

I reckon Eddie will get the chop this year, or after the 6nations.

i hope its before the 6nations, cause if we win another pocksey triple crown niave people will be saying "ah sure isn't he a great coach"

Doubt itll throw up anything for us. Theyll probably keep its substance well under wraps.

But I also doubt it will come up with any good explanations or proposals anyway. Id say they have as little idea why things went so poorly as anyone else.

Im for keeping EOS for a minimum of 2 more six nations. See if they really did learn anything and can progress.

If not, then it still give his successor two sixnations and a few summer/autumn series to work towards the next world cup.

True, but I still don't think eddie has served us, the fans, with the respect we deserve. Perhaps it's not a precedent to do so, but the abject failure at this world cup was unprecedented, even by Irish Sporting standards. I was actually hurt more when I watched the quarter final between NZ and France, because at the end of it I knew that Ireland 6 months-1year ago would have beaten either of those two teams o n the night. We were touting ourselves to win the damn thing at one stage. And we go out with 9 points and a minus points difference* and all we get is a few mumbles from the million-euro man at the end of the Argentina match about how we never got into our stride, blah blah, and then boom! he puts Harry Houdini to shame with his disappearing act.
I'm not necessarily calling for eddies head, but if this is all we get from him by way of explanation, I will be. We deserve better, and at least Henry was man enough to sit there and take it.

*This says it all to me - France and Argentina were able to inflict more damage on us, than we were on Georgia and Namibia!

I suspect if we had done well he would be more than happy to appear on The Late Late Show. If you are prepared to accept the plaudits when it goes well, you should be prepared to face the flack when it doesn't.

Well if Eddie gets one more season so as we dont make a rash / rushed appointment and DOES not deliver a GS he should go.

If / When he goes a 3 year rebuidling cycle is perfect, for some reason I feel based on the ABs and ourselves, 4 years is too long to build to a RWC.

Ireland were at the height of their powers in pushing Oz in the Telstra in the lst RWC and the 3 following years. The ABs year on year too peak too early.

4 years just seems too long to a period to possibly ecpect to peak for 4 weeks at the end of it.
