Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi All,

My old man is wondering if the 1939 Half Crown he has is worth anything?
Probably not but I told him i'd ask the experts!:D

    Cheers!

I think its the type of thing that you pick up in any antique shop or market stall in a tin box with hundreds of other coins from the same era for next to nothing, ie 'Any five coins from this box €5' :)

    Just as I thought really!

The 1937 and 1943 Irish Half Crowns are the ones to look out for. Value depends on condition and the '43 is the scarcer of the two. 1943 was the final issue of the silver coins so a lot of these were taken back and melted down. Theres also only 1 known 1938 Half Crown and it's in the national museum.

    It's 1939...
Ah well. The old man thought it might be worth something.
