Any Drive should do aslong as it will work with your mobo either being sata or ide

    Cheers.

Any drive should work in a Dell, provided:

    1. You have a spare 5¼" drive bay to take it or are replacing an existing drive.
    2. You have the correct brackets to fit the drive to the case if it's an additional drive.
    3. You have a spare IDE or SATA connector that you can connect the drive to.

komplett.ie would be a good start,

Most dell computers have spare brackets stuck on the insdie of the case somewhere (If you have not used them)

    What's people's opinions on this one : http://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.aspx?sku=325580

Where can I get a IDE or SATA connector?

That is a IDE one. I have just researched the Dimension 5150 and I believe it uses SATA, not IDE.

I've just ordered two of these : http://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.aspx?sku=336564

You'll need to buy a SATA cable off Komplett also...http://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.aspx?sku=115475

    Which would you recommend?

Is there anywhere in town you can get a cheap SATA cable, not paying €12 for delivery of a €5 product?

not paying €12 for delivery of a €5 product?

Sure if you're buying the drive of Komplett? why not get the cable too?
It's the once off €12 delivery if you purchase one or both of the items.

If you need a cable i'd be happy to ship one too you free of cost, i have hundreds of them !

But before you buy, have a look at your motherboard.

    Do you have a spare:

    IDE

    or
    SATA

Or do you have both spare ? A sata drive would be a bit quicker, but you wont notice the difference at all, unless you spend all day burning dvd's.

If you are looking for a high performance drive get a plextor, if you want nice and cheeap, go to pcworld and get a lite-on drive.

Anyone know if I have an IDE or SATA from them pictures?

The blue cable, although an unusual colour for one, is SATA and you definately have a free socket there. Only one though, so rule out ever getting a second HDD. The connector in the last picture is IDE, see for yourself if you have a free socket that fits it.

you can use either, as you have a spare ide cable, and a spare sata port. Which is right next to your other sata port.

I would go with sata, as its much tidyer inside the case,
