    Hey All,

I traveled to the US at the beginning of June for a week for work. I just noticed at the weekend that my visa waiver card is still in my passport.

I called the US embassy and they forwarded me on to a prerecorded add for their website and a 1580 number (€2.40per/min) which I can't get through to.

Has anybody encountered this problem before? If so, do you know how to resolve it?

    j

You need to return it to them otherwise when the 90 days run out, they will have you marked as an "overstay" on their records, i.e. you didn't leave the country and are still there illegally. This will cause you a lot of problems if you ever try to re-enter again at some stage in the future. You will more than likely be turned away...

You need to return the form to the CBP (Customs and Border Protection) along with proof that you left the country, e.g. copy of boarding card.

Here is the link with the info:

    http://help.cbp.gov/cgi-bin/customs.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=752&p_created=1077641280&p_sid=RGQ8g3Hh&p_lva=&p_sp=cF9zcmNoPTEmcF9zb3J0X2J5PSZwX2dyaWRzb3J0PSZwX3Jvd19jbnQ9OCZwX3Byb2RzPTAmcF9jYXRzPTAmcF9wdj0mcF9jdj0mcF9zZWFyY2hfdHlwZT1hbnN3ZXJzLnNlYXJjaF9ubCZwX3BhZ2U9MSZwX3NlYXJjaF90ZXh0PUktOTQ*&p_li=&p_topview=1

    Need to send it to:
    ACS - CBP SBU
    1084 South Laurel Road
    London, KY 40744
    United States of America

Other information on that page about supporting documentation that you may need to provide. Its not a quick process, so if you plan to travel soon (in the next few months), expect problems as it might not have cleared yet...

this same thing happened to my brother in law when he was in the states in 2005. As far as I remember, he had to get proof that he was in full time employment and a lot of other paper work to them before he could get it all sorted and it did take a good while to get done.
