    I own a 2004 1.9 TDi Ford Galaxy Automatic.

Currently when the car starts it ai is stuck in a gear either 3rd or 4th, pulling away is hard but manageable and driving after that is ok.

After approx 20 mile or 20 minutes the gearbox appears to "kick in" properly and from that point on works well.

If the car is turned off it returns to the original problem.

Transmission Oil Level has been checked by a main Ford Dealer and it appears normal. They are unwilling to investigate further and just want to replace the whole thing for 2.5k.

Any geniuses out there willing to help a mechanical simpleton??
