Addicted to a Flickr Group

Now Flickr groups I can normally take or leave but I joined this one the other day and I am now frigging addicted to it (waiting for a quiet word from the boss at any moment!).

There is something about going head to head against someone elses photo that has really twiked my competative side !!!!

Anyone else found themselves addicted to Flickr groups (or any other sites ones) in this way?

I found myself addicted to photoblogs at one stage. I'd check out all my incoming links, then their incoming links and so on and so on. Gets tiresome after a while though. Some people's idea of a decent photoblog leaves alot to be desired.

I'm thinking of starting a support group called "Supporters of Flickr Addictions" but I wouldn't want people to get addicted to it... Either that or Interholics Anonymous.

I was addicted to the Scientist Photographer's Flickr Group for a good while. I just had to go cold turkey in the end, although I have started posting there in the past few weeks again. I hope my willpower has grown a bit

Thankfully I don't have an addictive personality, but I have noticed how people react when I post pictures in certain groups.

There are those who feel the urge to comment on everything, those who feel the urge to try & post a better picture than you & those who feel the urge to start a new thread, as soon as the last one they created, is no longer focusing on them.

I don't know if that is solely applicable to people with addictive personalities.

And I think you can be addicted to a Flickr group without having an addictive personality For me, I had to visit that group all the time to see what was going on, but rarely posted and didnt feel the need to submit shots all the time either. I just really enjoyed having a look all the time! I think the only thing Im really addicted to is music.

City its is jealousy in their case reacting to your piccies, I hate to admit it but there have been numerous occasions where I've seen photos posted on here for C&C etc yours included where I have silently cursed at how good they are.......

I casually entered this one last night and then spent a nail-biting hour waiting for the results to come in, Gnashing my teeth and pulling at my hair every time the other guy got a vote ... Had to go and have a lie down and a cigarette when I eventually won by a nose ...

Congrats, lovely shot!!

I know the feeling, I came fourth in the Scientist Photo weekly, but that was ok cos I wasnt expecting to even be nominated, and the shot that won is always gonna take it, )and I've won it couple of times before)... but.. I was refreshing the results all day Monday :P

Can someone please explain exactly how a flickr group works and what you do etc?
