Just noticed my stalker disc has a few cracks around the centre hole. Must of happended when I dropped it a couple days ago...

Anyway I'm not sure how severe this is.. The game has been working 100% fine so I know the cracks havent reached the main areas of the disc.. Also they are only on the top layer..

Is this serious and should I stop using the disc? Or will it be alright seeing as the cracks are only on the centre plastic??

As I said though the game works fine. However I am fully aware that if a disc shatters inside a drive thats death for the drive and god knows what else:(

    I hope I don't have to re-buy the game..

    Thanks for responses

Just back up the disc, or you could also drill a tiny hole at the end of the cracks to stop them spreading if it hasn't reached the data. I have a copy of UT2K4 that's been cracked like that for years and it's still grand. Once it reached the inner part of the disc it just stopped, only moved through the cheap inner plasitc

Yeah thats like mine. The cracks seem to stop just before the important area. I have starting checking the disc everytime I take it out of the drive and it doesnt look like the cracks want to spread. I also might try taping down some of the protruding bits.

Okay so thanks for calming me down:D Glad to know the disc is still safe to use. I suppose if it really wasnt it would have started showing problems already.

Check with the distributor, lots of games companies will replace damaged disks for a small fee.
