Going to Thailand for 2 weeks in February with our two little ones and my parents (I know I must be mad:)). How and ever...thinking of doing Bangkok, Chiang Mai and Phuket, flying between all of these but is this too much? I want my parents especially to see as much as they can but dont want everyone to be exhausted. Also thinking of connecting straight to CM when we arrive in Bangkok as think this would be an easier place to recover from the jet lag? any advice greatly accepted

Stay in the Novotel in Phuket it is away from the main nightlife and would be better for small childern, they have an entertainment crew there.

We stayed in the rembrandt in Bangkok and it is lovely.

Thanks Dryle; hadn't considered the Novotel but will def have a look at it; was thinking of the Holiday Inn in Phuket as my parents don't want to be too far from the action !! Hard to find somewhere to suit us all, we just a break from the kids and some R&R

The main strip/area in Phuket is quite noisy at night and the taxi's/tuk tuks are cheap enough. Novotel overlooks the beach and there is a lovely restaurant in the hotel and another across the road overlooking the sea, these were the top 2 in the guide book when we were there.

Tigerbalm is cheap and a lot better than deepheat.

There is a sopping centre near the ladyboy caberet, across the road there is a tailor shop that is very good, i got 2 suits and 2 shirts made, my wife got a dress, trs and jacket all for about £400 for the 2 of us, granted that was 9 yrs ago, the girl in the shop said clothes sold in department stores are genuine.

While there do the james bond island trip.

In bangkok you can go to the floating market, its a good day out but leaves early, the buddha temples is also worth a trip and if you can try to get to the royal lapidary (if it is open to the public) it is the goverment owned jewelery design centre. On trips around you will be brought to private one but they are expensive. We were sent there by a journalist when we were looking for the royal barge, he also sent us to the happy prince statue, while we were at the statue a manager from our hotel approached us and asked where we were going, when we told him he also gave great reviews of it.

Thanks for the advice Dryle; are any of the day trips you mentioned do-able with kids in tow i.e James Bond island, floating market etc?
