Being fairly new to ebay I've been a bit wary due to unfamiliarity.

I bought some starwars merchandise for a haloween costume (ehm it's for a friend...I'm not a huge nerd, cough cough.)

Anyways I chose to buy it now, shipping came in at around 15GBP whixh was fine.
When I wnet to check out, the shipping cost wasn't included so I mailed the seller through the ebay function for a revised invoice and this is what came back (shipping is from the UK)
Item # Item Title Qty. Price Star Wars Stormtrooper? Collectors Helmet 1 £39.99

    Subtotal: £39.99

Postage and packaging via Royal Mail Airmail (Small Packets):
    £1,999.00
    Postal insurance (required): £1.50

    Total: £2,040.49

Now the seller has not had any further communication with me for the past 3 days despite e mails.

Is this just an error on his behalf!

I would expect he meant £19.99. Shame they're not responding to emails though. (have to laugh at the extra 1.50 charge for insurance )

If he fails to respond, I guess you'll have to contact eBay about it.

Probably meant 19.99 but if it isn't this
    should sort him out

yeah if you go to the 'some examples' part the 2nd point should apply here.

Btw thanks for this link, next time I'm quoted rip off postage costs I'll refer the buyer to this link. I usually just delete their mails and not bid.
