    Hi all,

do any of you have links or tips on how to build a garden pond?

The area I am talking about is approx 20 feet by 10 feet.

Any suggestions on liner types, pumps - any warnings?

The pond will be situated in a corner area and the intention is to build a typy of rockery in the corner and have water run down and into the pond.

Any help would be very much appreciated!

    Cheers,

    Richie.

    Hi Richy,

    This should get you started.

Dig the area to the shape and dept of the basin (Bottom) of the bond, use the clay/soil to build up at the back into the shape you would like it to be. Leaving slight vertical bits for any water falls you might want to put in.
Using sand, spread it around where the liner is going to go (This will stop the liner getting punchered). Place the liner over the areas where water is going to be flowing and in the pond itself. If you have to use more than one piece of liner make sure you over lap the pieces at least a foot or so. You can buy a rubber sealer to seal the join at the over lap.

When cutting around the edges of the liner, bring it out about a foot over the bank of the pond, this can be covered with rock, stone or paving slabs.

Before you put too many rock around the edge fill it with water to make sure there are no leaks. Filling it will also put weight on the liner and some it of might slide back into the pond an inch or 2. Once this is done you can finish putting the rest of the rocks or slabs around it and build the rockery around it from there.

Hope this is of some help to you.
