I thought it sucked big time. It builds itself up nicely but then looses it's way and the pay off never comes. Plus the American soldiers in it really did my head in, so wooden. Say a line like how you would imagine a box to speak, then cus' and repeat. It really took me out of the film.

I enjoyed it immensly. It's not a patch on earlier J Horror such as the Ring but it does have it's moments. The ending is a let down but the build up is so welel handled that you can almost forgive it. Go into the film expecting a slow burning psychological horror film and you wont fell disappointed.

But it's still not a patch on the earlier J Horror :D

I know. When people talk about it they always discuss it alongside films liek the Ring and the Grudge, so rather than confuse the average viewer it's easier to use J Horror. Plus our store has it in the J Horror section, but then again the boss did insist that Haute Tension belonged there. :D

Generally I love films like this and I was all set to really like this one but I was left feeling very underwhelmed.

It is far from a great film and as Rizzla says the set up is great and your all set for a top film but the payoff never comes...couldnt have put it better myself:)

It's decent. I enjoyed it anyway. It has its flaws as already pointed out but it's still worth a watch imo.

If you're looking for a war film rather than a horror I'd recommend two other Korean films, JSA (Joint Security Area) and Brotherhood. Both are fantastic.

I liked it, but it does divide opinion so you might be better off renting it before you shell out €30 for it.

More of an emphasis on the horror.

It's a decent film. Definetly nothing amazing, but worth a look. Not worth the €30 odd it might go for full price, but I picked it up in a sale. ;)

thanks for replies, i will be heading to Bokor Hill in cambodia soon and the hotel in the film will be something i will be heading to, so wanted to see the film that was shot there, r-point. it is on play for 6£ so i will get it off there.

reviewers off the web have mentioned that the fils portrays the horror or war.. does any film really get this accross, the intro to saving private ryan, hamburger hill come to mind...

    thanks for replies...

It's not bad by any means, but I felt that more than anything it was basically Deathwatch in Korean. Having seen and enjoyed Deathwatch a good while ago, I didn't feel R-Point did anything much different with the premise. It's worth watching, I don't know that it's worth watching more than once though.

I didn't like Deathwatch at all. Far prefer R-Point.
