98fm Morning Crew

Having to listen to 98fm for news of the Fugitive meant I've had to listen to 98fms answer to the Strawberry Alarm Clock in the form of the untitled Morning Crew. Does anyone else find this programme completely irritating in all it's aspects but particularly the 3 presenters, Dermot, Dave and the girl. The sketches are dreadfully unfunny particularly "Dave's World" and the two men seem to laugh constantly about nothing. They seem to think that laughing is funny.

I think Dermot was on The Panel last night and he hardly got a word in because he's just not funny. Anyway, does anyone else know what I'm talking about?

As far as I know there has yet to be a funny radio presenter in the history of man kind. The mild entertainment I have gotten on the rare occasions I listen to it has come from the listeners/call in's.

God I can't listen to that radio station at anytime! The worse is the news and sports ones! 'I'm Johnny Lyons....' So irritating he makes my skin crawl!

I agree with you OP, they are every bit as unfunny as the presenters of the Strawberry Alarm Clock and most 'zany' breakfast shows. Dumbed down, banal, unfunny radio.

Eh... yes. Your point being? When has that type of radio EVER been good?

Ah yes, the self-obsessed 25 to 35-year-old female. Any other girls like that who are reading this: talking about your wedding and cutesy-wutesy fiancé non-stop is SO INTERESTING!!! And talking about what curtains/lampshades/bread-boards you recently bought - TELL ME MORE!!!
Keep it up - people really want to hear the uninteresting details of your bland, suburban, soulless, prematurely middle-aged, Daily Mail-reading lives!!!

It is good to vent sometimes and now that that's done I think someone needs a good cup of tea! :)

Oh I'm actually a female aged 25 to 35. And not single. And I love to doll myself up to the nines like any girl. I just find there are far more interesting things than domesticity, shoes and handbags.

Sorry: "prematurely middle-class" should have actually read "prematurely middle-aged".

Although I would tend to agree with this, the morning presenters in 98fm are particularly woeful. They are never funny and seem to fake laugh constantly. How the girl ended up on radio is beyond me.

    I cant stand them

the typical link goes like this

Dermot: Jaysus i was up all night last night

    Siobhan : Giggle

Dave: Was it your wife keeping you up, wha?

    Siobhan : Giggle

Dermot: No i was alone..fell asleep on my hand!!!!!

All :HA HA HA HA HA

I may have gotten the names mixed up...i sometimes get confused over who the "funny one" is supposed to be.

Its cd's in the car for me in the morning

Like the OP I have only starting listening quite recently in order to follow the 98FM Fugitive's Apprentice and never find the morning crew funny. I also hate Little Becky and those stupid toll trolls. Oh and for those of you who reckon that no radio shows can be funny, I love Joe and Keith on Spin1038 and regularly LOL at them. I especially love the Jacinta skit.

Colm & Jim Jim on 2fm ftw! Used to have to listen to 98fm and it was seriously painful every morning.

I think the Ian Dempsey Show is by far the best of that type of breakfast programme. Ian is a great, engaging, natural presenter, and while he has to play chart rubbish, he plays his own choice of stuff too and he has great taste.

98 fm is pretty bad yeah, fm104 is by far the worst show ever on radio. laughing at laughing and forced laughter.

Well forced laughter is notable on 98fm too.

Agree with you there Dudess. Plus he never tries to be funny like those other coffeed up idiots that stations like to put in front of microphones at that time of the morning. And he's got Mario Rosenstock to do the funnies, a guy who's genuinely funny without needing to try.

Their comp for secret sound is such a load of bollix.

I was listening to the clues on it here and there over a period of 2 or 3 weeks and the prize money got to 4K  Some well to do middle aged sounding lady from Howth then rings up and wins by guessing the answer as being a coffee machine....even though NONE of the clues could be tied back to it.Texted them to ask them to clarify the clues and went out of my way to listen to the next painful 60 mins and whoooooooooshhhhhhhhh nothing

98FM is ****e and has been since Pat and Elaine got the plug pulled.

However FM104 had it all in the mornings until Colm and Jim Jim left. Now 2FM have it. Colm and (especially) Jim Jim are funny most of the time.

In fact apart from DArcy they are the only morning show i'd listen to.
