I need to get to Sheffield in January, and was wondering if anyone knows the best way to get there? Can't seem to find any flights from Dublin to Sheffield, so has anyone wandered that way before and have any tips on how to manage it?

yes i have, ryanair fly to doncaster which is not that far, there are buses/trains from doncaster railway station to sheffield or rotherham which only take a few minutes.

From Doncaster airport there is no direct link to Sheffield, you need to thake the bus to Doncaster station and train to Sheffield, journey time is about 1h15-1h35.

Manchester Airport would be an option also, there is a half-hourly service to Sheffield with one direct train and one connecting train, every hour, journey time is 1h20.

Ryanair and AerLingus both serve Manchester.

East Midlands is a bus and train ride via Derby, every 30mns, journey time 1h15-1h30. Ryanair

Birmingham International also has good rail connections to Sheffield, every 30mns, direct or 1 change, journey time approx 1h45. AerLingus and Ryanair

Luton has an hourly connecting train, journey time approx 2h15.

I've found travelling to Manchester, then using train the best.
With Ryanair and Aer L both going there, you can get very cheap rates.
