Yeah he is certainly the most consistent ref....and not consistently bad like some could be accused of.

^^ the only referee who has the experience to do such a thing is Joel Jutge and he is one big pile of crap

Someone point this out to me, but was he the ref who ref'd the England Australia game?

    Yes he was

He wasn't too quick on the uptake with the Aussies collapsing scrum after scrum. There was a fair amount of booing on the day. He better write a few notes on the back of his hand.

Right so it is the same lad. Thought he had a woeful match to be honest. It took him a serious while to cop what the Aussies where doing come scrum time and his attitude towards two potential sin binnings with Vikerman and Sharpe was handled poorly.

For the sake of rugby i hope he does better come final

He didn't have much help - he was on the opposite side of the scrum from Dunning who was collasping. He is a great ref and deserves the final on recent performance.

The winning penalty he awared to England, he signalled as if it was for hands in the scrum, but I thought the scrum was clearly over. The back row had left the scrum and was picking up the ball.
    Anybody else agree / disagree?

I think he meant Rolland being french

Is a serious point. He should not have been chosen for that reason, when its a possibility that France will get to the final.

I don't think thats should be considered. He's an Irish national and that's that. If they started taking each ref's ancestry into account there wouldn't be many decent eligible ones left.

I agree with Daveirl. Alain Rolland is a great referee IMO and I'm glad he will be refereeing the Final of the RWC. And IF France make it to the final (trust me we're not there yet), I REALLY don't think he'll be advantaging us. He's professional and wouldn't put his international refereeing career at risk!
