    Hello,

Im travelling to cardiff for the Ireland game in November, i presume the best way to go is Rosslar to Pembroke and when i get there whats the best option bus/train? Anyone any ideas how much for the bus train and do you need to book in advance.

Also when i go to AA website it gives me lots of places in pembroke to choose when calculating journey just to see how long it takes. If i choose Pembroke Ferry it say 1hr 50 mins but if i choose rosslare/pembroke ferry route it says 4hrs, whats that all about and whats the correct time?

Thanks and lastly as alot of the city centre hotels are booked up im looking at staying about 8kms from the city centre, its right beside a train station, do they run all night or just during the day and what are you likely to pay for a taxi back that night?

    Thanks for reading

According to www.bahn.de the journey from Pembroke Dock --> Cardiff Central is ~3hrs 17mins. Pembroke Dock -> Swansea and then change for Swansea to Cardiff Central.

Stop using the AA website, it's ****.

For public transport across all of the EU (incl. Ireland) you can use www.bahn.de (or www.bahn.co.uk if you don't understand that site)

For driving across all of the EU you can use www.viamichelin.com

Can't help much with hotels though sorry.

The Bus Eireann/Eurolines service from Cork/Limerick-Rosslare-Cardiff only runs on the overnight ferry and it drops off (very early at 03.30am) and picks up several miles outside the city at a motorway service area .

There are no convenient internal bus services from the Welsh ports to Cardiff.

There is a train connection to/from both the night and daytime Stena sailings at Fishguard.

Although Irish Ferries sail to Pembroke Dock and there being a train station called Pembroke Dock the ferry berth and train station are a good walk apart and the connections for the daytime sailings are not great, there are no connections for the night sailings.

The bus costs between €50-€70 return (including ferry travel) and needs to be booked in advance.

The cheapest tickets for rail travel is the combined sail-rail ticket which is €38 each way (Rosslare-Cardiff) and can be bought in advance or at the port before departure.

    Bus Times and Fares

    Rail and Sea timetable

The ferry takes 3h30 and combined both the train/ferry or bus/ferry will take about 7 hours from Rosslare-Cardiff

Local trains from Cardiff mostly finish around 11-11.30pm but there are a few trains on the Swansea line that run later, until around 1am. There are no night buses in Cardiff, Taxi would probably be £10-15 for that distance.
