So how does one book flights on expedia.co.uk when one can't select Ireland as a country from the creditcard address list?

I don't think you can, you must have a credit card with a UK billing address.

You can't book expedia offers without a UK address :(

They explain it somewhere on the site, there's some specific policy in place in Ireland that causes them hassle.

I booked a holiday to Florida last year through expedia.co.uk and noticed the same thing. I just picked a random country, think it was afghanastan because it was somewhere near the top :D Everything worked out fine!

Just found this on the site......

Unable to book on site with Eire address

Due to restricting Irish regulations relating to the offering of travel products in and out of the Republic of Ireland, we currently do not accept bookings from customers with a booking address within the Irish Republic. Work is in progress to rectify this situation but in the meantime we regret that we are unable to process bookings from customers with a Southern Irish address at this time.

    Balls.............

lol rip-off republic in full swing...not only are we all being fleeced, it's legislated for, to "protect consumers".
Just glad I have access to an NI address if I ever need one...

I'm far too quick to blame my own country seemingly. See Gran Hermano's post for details

I tried to book some tickets to Japan via expedia and couldn't. I ended up doing it with www.travelocity.com The price worked out the same and later on I emailed Expedia and told them I spent over €2k with their competitor.

I don't understand why Travelocity can sell in Ireland but not Expedia.

Eire - wrong spelling, not used in English
Irish Republic - Ceased to exist in 1922
Southern Irish - People of Munster?

    Honestly

Expedia UK will not pay the deposit required for a bond to ensure their
customers are legally covered for a refund in case the company goes belly
up after you pay for your trip. It's to ensure the Irish government doesn't
have to pay money repatriating Irish people stuck overseas if their travel
    agent/tour operator goes bankrupt.

Further info on how the bond/licensing works here:
    http://www.aviationreg.ie/Travel_Trade_Licensing.HTML

It boils down to Expedia not bothering to license themselves in Ireland.

I booked a multi-destination US holiday with Expedia.com this year and come to think of it more or less every trans-atlantic flight with them for the past few years!

Just put your country down as UK and fill in your complete adddress in the space provided. I've never had a prob with this.

Worth noting that if you use Expedia.COM rather than Expedia.CO.UK you can also get more savings due to exchange rates. Expedia.com also give you bonus points that you can redeem against Hotels. Flights etc...

I tried to book a flight to San Fran with Expedia.Co.UK and it was coming out at £2300 Sterling for 2 of us, when I booked the exact same dates and flights with Expedia.COM I got them for €1400 for both of us!.

Wouldn't worry too much about the billing address, even though Ireland is the only country thats not on that list...its a weird one alright. Even though I believe they have an Irish phone helpline??.
