Going to Berlin for a few days, anyone know of or can recommend a cheap hotel, I will be needing a double room so preferably no hostels unless they're pretty decent.

Also if you can recommend any sights / attractions feel free :D

    Thanks in advance.

Aletto is a decent hostel where you can book double rooms. They have two locations in Berlin.

I'm staying in the Circus hostel. It's got fabulous reviews on tripadvisor, with claims that the private rooms are more hotel than hostel. But I haven't stayed there yet!

In your pocket usually pick out good hotels:

There's a New Berlin Walking Tour that is really great. It's free and takes about 4 hours, where you learn about the history of the city and see the important places-I was there during the summer, but I think it's done all year round.

Also the same company do a pub crawl every night which was fantastic-if u wanna get drunk and meet some cool people!:D

went inter-railing over the summer and Berlin was probably my favourite spot. we stayed in a spot well outside the main city of berlin called jetpack. twas in the middle of the forest but when i was there everyone seemed to stay in either Wombats (really popular) or generator hostel. they were supposedly very student orientated. and definitely do that walking tour and pub crawl mentioned above. your hostel should have info on it. and don't skip the train or bus fare cause they have plain clothes inspectors who caught us once and brought us to an ATM to pay the fine. at least i hope he was an inspector.:)

Parents going there very soon, and I was looking at hotels for them. The Best Western Mitte looks reasonable. Close side of Tiergarten to city centre, near Friedrichschafen. If your going with AL, check the hotel part of their site, always seems cheap.

If your looking for a hostel, well, I'm staying in the generator hostel in January. 4 nights for €48, only payment on arrival. Seems like a really cool place, with pub crawl:D. Does seem more student-oriented though.

The place I was looking at was the Alfa Hotel, it's slightly north east of Tiergarten but it's in the Mitte district.
For a double room its €253 for 4 nights.
Seems very central aswell - think it was actually closer to the center than the Best Western, but I dont exactly know my way around Berlin so thats just a guess :D
The walking tour and the pub crawl sound pretty good too will deffinatly check those out, thanks for the help guys :D

We stayed here last year http://www.agon-alexanderplatz.de/
Its clean, confortable, although the physical layout has somewhat of a cold war feel to it. The location is reasonably good for tourist stuff and its near the u-bahn. The prices were very good. Apart from standard rooms, they have quad rooms, with 2 bedrooms, each with 2 beds, sofa and small kitchenette.

Go to The Olympic Stadium! Fantastic stadium. I stayed in the Generator Hostel, massive hostel - I know you said you'd prefer a hotel, but this place was fantastic, I'd recommend checking it out.

Hotel Agon in Friedrichshain is grand and comfy and not expensive. Club wise you have to go to Berghain/Panorama Bar! Excellent! Sage is pretty cool too. Sightseeing - do a walking tour, the hot air balloon and the TV tower. Such a vibrant and cool city with so many nice cafés, restaurants and bars and some crazy looking wacky locals that really add to the atmosphere. Ist bestimmt 'ne Reise wert! Have a blast!

Thanks for all the Feedback, Eventually went with the Alfa, Seems close enough to all the local sights.
Will have to give Panorama/Sage a try. - Sample the local beers :D
The hot air baloon ride sounds pretty cool, any idea how much it costs?

It´s called ´Die Welt´ baloon, I tried googling and didn´t get a price, but i seem to remember something along the lines o 12euro each. the fernsehturm is 8 or 9 euro each, but don´t forget, going up to the glass dome on top of the reichstag is absolutely free! and it has a fantastic view too!
