That's at least a dozen airsoft guns!

Either that pc leaves mine in the dust, or you got ripped off.

Though I am tempted to but extra RAM and install Vista rather than XP.

the very fact that you need more ram just to run vista should be enough of a warning sign!

although, seriously, got new desktops in work a few weeks back with vista pre-installed, played with it for 5 mins and then formatted the hard drive, granted im a ubuntu user, but i'd rather xp over vista

Speaking of camo and custom finishes...:p

I was working with a company last week who offer custom paint/artwork jobs on Commodore pc's (now that's my vintage).

As a gamer and retro collector/builder: i was drooling!  :o

Some of the cases looked simply astounding! Medal of Honor, Ghost Recon etc. artwork over the entire metal case... wow.

    They're not cheap tho!

I hope I can get me a case for my next build! (still have my free copy of vista from MS launch, but dont think I wanna use it in the next monster!!!:D )

Well this is all very shiney and dont get me wrong, I like to wave my eWilly as much as the next guy but what, exactly, has any of this got to do with Airsoft?

I used to do a lot of that myself. I'm considering starting a new project for my own computer based on a the Swedish CB-90. I had planned to mod out an older case I had earmarked for an AH-64 Apache project but that's fallen by the way side.
The last one I did was a Massey Ferguson tractor one. I had original MF dash components mounted on the front of the case to give temps and fan speeds and I fabed a scaled down exhaust that ported directly into a case fan so when you turned the comp on the air displacement opened the cap on the top of the exhaust.
Paint is just one part of it, but man is it important and often camo doesn't look as good on a comp as you might think

True...so true,. Not only that, but you need Vista 64 so it can fully use the 4gb or RAM.

MaxForce, that's a great idea....camo paint job on the case. The one I ordered is all black, solid sides etc, so it's quite suitable for painting.

It's nice to see that we spend our money on something other than airsoft....at least every once and a while. Makes us seem more human.

Defender dude...I actually still have my C64, I even got the 1541 disk drive and a dot matrix printer..hehe. I learned to program on this lovely machine....both assembly and basic.

Falls, yup, I'm a gamer..that pc build would be a bit overkill for just reading these forums. My current pc is getting a linux makeover...eventually

Hivemind...you are probably right, but I couldnt resist.

I reckon i've spent well over €15,000 over the last 8 years building PCs, customizing them including complete cosmetic transformations and custom cooling solutions.

Current setup has a custom watercooled system that extends through the wall of my house to the outdoors where a dual radiator cools my PC to ridiculously low temperatures during the winter.

Pic was taken before I sold my 1911 to Shiva, had it on the wall for a few days to impress the visitors! :D

I bet you said the same thing about upgrading to XP. :D

That's some setup Voodoomelon. I've built a few PCs in my time but I've never gone that far. I think I might leave it to the pros from now on though. The PC I built for my sister went on fire (still works though amazingly) My PC which I spent £2000 (sterling!) on will now turn on when you press the button but if you turn it off it won't restart for 15 minutes or so. At least it's working (sort of) now so I don't want to go messing with it again. Strangely it worked absolutely perfectly on Vista64 beta (except for not being able to run any programs).

Wow...that's the exact same issue I have with my pc. It's a bug with the safety cutoff feature of the motherboard. So I just leave it on 24/7. 4.5 months since last (intentional) reboot.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,659 ✭✭✭CrazyRabbit

I've decided to paint the new pc in camo colours. Then I'm gonna drill some holes in the side and glue bb's in into the holes...to make it look like the bb's partially penetrated the case.

Any other (airsoft related) suggestions on mods to the casing?

It's a pain when you need to install something or get updates that require a restart. I tend to turn mine on when I get home from work and leave it on until I go to bed.

You could install a perspex window and drill holes in that instead. Stick the bbs in the holes and make intentional cracks in the perspex. You could also get some counterstrike fan grills and litter the floor of the case with empty shell casings, if you can get your hands on em...

I did a Dell case mod a few years back when Half Life 2 came out, tried to give it a rustic look, you could do the same except in a battle-worn kinda way...
