java programming on a mac?

    hi,

    i used to program java apps on a windows machine using JCreator but now i have an apple ibook... but jcreator doesnt work on a mac so i am looking for a substitute any suggestions?

    does xcode do java?

    theres always eclipse if your'e into that sort of thing.

    Personally I abhore it but then I'm more of a command line sort of guy.

    Eclipse is decent. I'd recommend that you check it out. It is the most popular IDE for java programming and is used in most companies where Java is coded. Netbeans is also improving and is a decent choice. Both it and Eclipse are free.

    Xcode is pretty crappy for Java in comparison. IntelliJ is commonly regarded as the best but it costs a lot...

    Eclipse is grand and certainly one of the more popular choices. I don't think xCode is all that bad though in fairness. I prefer the Apple look and feel and the configuration control it gives me. Eclipse always makes me feel like Im working on Windows, yuck. When I first started coding Java we used vi so count yourself lucky you have a nice choice now! hehe But like everything its personal choice. You just have to try a few out and see what you like the most.
