Horrified to see a plastic tree disguising a telecommunications mast erected in St Endas Park Rathfarnham yesterday
Does anyone think that a public park is the right setting for such an installation and more importantly is this what Mrs Margaret Pearse would have wished for her beloved grounds when she bequeathed them to the nation.
I do not think that anyone could consider this to be a respectful way to maintain such a wonderful facility - it was to be enjoyed by locals and visitors alike and not to further governments bid to facilitate big business.

Afaik its actually the other way around , 'phone companies are encouraged to blend antennas in with the surroundings. I'd reckon they don't go to all the trouble in cities disguising them for the craic. It should bring in extra funds for the upkeep of the place, which can't be a bad thing.

The good lady died in the early nineteen-thirties. I'm guessing that she hadn't taken a position either way in the mobile phone mast debate.

She'd probably have been far more mortified by the signs encouraging, nay instructing, dog owners to pick up their pet's faeces and to put it in a little plastic bag in their pockets. How vile.

i remember reading something about complaints about the mobile coverage in rathfarnan and all they did was turn up the power on surrounding areas cos of the complaints about masts in he area, so that looks like a good solution (if youve got a mobile phone that is) hopefully its allowed the power to be turned down in surrounding areas.
