Broken LCD screen on my new(ish) camera

I bought a fuji finepix A610 two months ago. It's worked well until I took it out last night and realised the LCD display is broken. You can't see the display any more. It's covered in a black leaf shape and wavy lines so you can't see any pictures or camera functions. I took it back in to the shop I bought it in today but they said that the display is not covered under warranty because it's my fault. It happens when something presses on to the camera screen. I've been very very careful with it so I've no idea how it happened and I'm extremely píssed off. Especially as you can see the shape of the mark on the screen is from the metal button on the case that fuji provided. I don't know what I could have done to be more careful. According to the shop it'll cost €150 to be repaired which is how much the camera cost. A friend of mine mentioned something about being able to buy a replacement LCD and put it on myself (by myself I mean my bf!). He's looked online to see if he could find any parts but he hasn't had any luck. Has anyone else heard of being able to replace the LCD themselves? I don't want to buy a new camera when it's only 2 months old. Any suggestions?
