i was looking over the biology syllabus and its talkin about 70% and 30% but it doesnt define either ... just says something along the lines of social and technical for 30%:confused: sorry if im confusing anyone.

Do you need to hand up a mandatory experiment thing like the J.C ? is that what the 30% is about ?

    thanks lads (and lasses;) )

On the first page of the syllabus, it's clearly outlined what the 70% and 30% are about.

70% of the weight in the syllabus is given to pure biology. 22.5% of the weight is given to applied biology. 7.5% of the weight is given to biology and political, social and economic concerns. The latter two form the 30%, about which you speak.

You will need to keep a record of your practical work, should there be an inspection, but it does not count towards your grade.

They all make up a written paper, which you take at the end of a two-year course. There won't be any labels on the questions stating "this is part of the applied biology component of the course" or whatever. There is no practical component to the assessment of Leaving Cert Biology.
