This list is not exhaustive - our editorial team did not manage to visit all the 11,000 pubs in the country, so recommendations for future editions are welcome.

In the whole of Ireland, 1838 was the year when the number of pubs was at its highest – there were an incredible 21,236 pubs in Ireland, which meant 1 pub for every 375 people – man, woman and child. This meant 1 pub for roughly every 60-70 families!

    says about 10000

Well the VFI has "over 6000 members", and the LVA "has over 700 members and collectively represents well over 90% of all publicans in Dublin", so I'd say close to 7000 between those two anyway.

Actually, just too take all the fun out of this, in 1996 there were exactly 10,018, or one for every 362 people. Or one pub per person per day.

Well there's one just down the road from me and another one in the GAA club behind my house. So that's 11.

You have to give the name and location of each pub so we can get an accurate location and make sure we're not counting the same one twice.
