    Hi everyone,
I have seen the list of books on the Poker Guide thread, and I was wondering what are the best books available for improving a players game for 6-max no-limit ring games?

    Thanks in advance!

At what level? There aren't too many out there anyway, but this is getting good reviews:

Professional No-Limit Hold 'em: Volume I

I haven't read it yet, but judging by the reviews I've read, it covers all the main concepts very well.

I don't think it's really a beginner book, though (not saying you are one!). A newer player would probably be better off going through the 2+2 SSNL 6-max FAQ threads.

2+2 forums >>>>>>> any poker book.

    Hi,
Thanks for the reply. Apologies for not mentioning the levels. I'm currently playing 10NL. I have already read the forum posts which are really good. I'm used to playing SNGs and tournament, but I can honestly hold my hand up and say that my ring game needs alot of work :)

If you used to play tournaments and SNGs then you probably know most of the fundamentals already.

Read the micro stakes sticky on 2+2. Post hand histories here or on 2+2 for discussion.

If you want to get a book, i reccomend Phil Gordons Little green book.

Its such an easy read and full of the fundamantals. I still re-read it every time i'm running bad as it has alot of info and help review my game.
    Its fairly cheap too tbh.

Edit: Agree with Red joker, 2+2 is still better.

While I agree I find the forum pretty frustrating at times as there is so much junk to sift through to find the good stuff. Also reading a book is so much nicer than reading text on a screen.

Btw, what do people make of Sklansky's No Limit Hold 'em: Theory and Practice?

I agree that it's a good book and well written but it's not earth shattering either tbh, also I think it's more directed towards tournament play.

It's a year since I read it, but I thought at the time that there was some decent info in it (his section on short-stack play comes to mind). I'm definitely not at a level where I could give a proper critique of it, though. IanMc said in a thread last week that he found it poor (or parts of it poor?), and he'd be in a better position to judge. I'd be interested myself in what the better players here have to say on the book.

Agreed, I just found it to be a concise summary of Harrington's books.

Just got home to find Professional No Limit Holdem waiting for me :) . It certainly looks very good and they seem to be focusing on thought processes and planning your hand. They're also covering all the basics in this volume as well.

It's in the micro stakes sticky I linked earlier but here's a direct link:

    http://www.pr0crast.com/2+2.NL.Anthology.v1.htm

It's also linked to in the 2+2 thread in the legendary threads sticky if you can't find the direct link for it.
