However, a district judge has already dealt a serious blow to the defence's case by ruling that an expert witness could not testify that scans of her brain showed signs of mental illness.
You don't need an expert witness to declare that faking a pregnancy, then removing someone else's child is "mental illness". Lock her up in a mental home for the rest of her life tbh. You never know what she's capable of.

Sounds disturbingly like a wikipedia article I was reading about hari kiri the Japanese ritual suicide where they cut open their bellies! Gruesome stuff!

(I work with Japanese people so was trying to find out how they deal with a breach to their houour, quite harshly it seems!!)

    After nine months?

When you're this psychotic, the notion of "Get out while you can" obviously isn't so clear.

Hope she burns in hell, killing a mother of four is bad enough but stealing her unborn child while she is still alive is just sick. I don't care if she was "mentally insane" at the time it was premeditated murder. Hope she gets the death penalty

That's a horrific story. Needless to say Hollywood will probably make a movie about it in a few years.

Montgomery's lawyers say she suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder, depression and impulsivity.
Awww didums. Meanwhile the mother is suffering from a severe case of death.

I really hate lawyers who try to pull the sympathy card for someone like that.

No way! Why is it any better to want her locked up for the rest of her life where she goes even more crazy, what sort of existence is that? Why not just kill her? What's so bad about her being dead?

Just doing their job, everyone's entitled to a defence TBF... even Saddam Hussein got one. Well I think he got a few, some were killed... :/

She will either get death or some super duper unfinishable American sentence like 350 years plus 40 for kidnapping the child (some states just say life no parole, the south, being full of people of, ahem, lower intellect, likes to tease them so that 40 years into their sentence some toothless old prisoner still clings on the hope of "hey, i survived 40 years of guard beatings, stabbings and riots involving the repeated chanting of kill whitey, i really think i can see this through!")

Whats the bets that in Ireland/UK it would be life with a 14 year minimum. If a man did it life, no question, but ah sure women, they get a bit funny sometimes (so the legal establishment thinks)
