    Friday, 05 October 2007
    Glasgow v Connacht, 19:30 Preview
    Leinster v Llanelli Scarlets, 19:10 - BBCw/Setanta Preview
Munster v Cardiff Blues, 19:30 Preview

    Saturday, 06 October 2007
    Newport-Gwent D'gons v Ulster, 17:30 S4C/Setanta Preview

Tickets are still available for both Leinster & Munster home games, so if you're doing nothing tonight head along and support your team :)

Some good games on there, I'd expect a win for Munster and Leinster, with Connacht in with a shout against a poor Glasgow side, and Ulster will find it tough against the Dragons.

Willis is back for Leinster :) and Buckley returns for Munster

Was hoping to be able to get to the Leinster game, but alas I'm on crutches so it'll be too awkward. Will shout at the telly at home instead :)

I'm looking forward to seeing how Jennings does this season. hopefully he'll be able to force his way into the reckoning for a place on the Ireland team.

I noticed that Leo Cullen was named Captain for Leinster I think if I was someone like Keith Gleeson I'd be well p!$$ed at that.

gary brown gets his 50th cap for Leinster today. I think he's merited a couple of Ireland caps too. Seriously fast and an all-round decent player.

Looks like there's a good few going, and the weather should be good as well.

The Horse Show House are doing special rates for Season Ticket holders before and after the game :)

Cardiff can't be that good considering Leinster got a bonus point victory over them away. I'd expect Munster to thrash them.

Not sure about Llanelli...they seem to put Connacht to the sword but they are still missing all their internationals. But Leinster should have too much for them (fingers crossed)

Glasgow are Scottish...i'd like to think Connacht should be capable of beating them....although it is away.

When do the rugby world cup players return to provincial duty?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,686 ✭✭✭EdgarAllenPoo

Usually just before Christmas. That's when they do well, it could be sooner this year.

8-10, the pack seems to be doing slightly better

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,252 ✭✭✭Funkstard

Jaysus, Leinster down to 13 men, 31-11 to the Scarlets. Disastrous second half!

EDIT: Spoke too soon...another try for Llanelli...don't think I've ever seen Leinster defend this badly...38-11

    EDIT: Susprise surprise...45-11

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,708 ✭✭✭Erin Go Brath

The ladyboys are playing like ladyboys! Scarlets scoring for fun now. 5th try for them, score 45-11. Leinsters defence is non-existant!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,681 ✭✭✭✭P_1

Sweet jesus that was possibly the worst Leinster performance I've ever seen.
It seemed that they just lost interest, esp for the 2nd Llanelly try

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,987 ✭✭✭✭zAbbo

Scarlets defense was awesome, poor showing from Leinster, silly yellows from Kearney and Jennings, putting us down to 13.

Enjoyable game though, Scarlets were impressive, especially Regan King :)

We got pipped in Glasgow by a point.
I was shocked at the Leinster result though.

    jaysus...

leinster had no organisation and were reduced to rabble for most of the 2nd half. never seen such poor protection of the ball at rucks.

king really exposed mcfadden. hopefully he recovers from the experience.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,301 ✭✭✭Snickers Man

    Jesus. What a train wreck!!!!

And that was basically the first choice Leinster pack too. Cullen, Gleeson, Jennings, Heaslip, Hogan, Jackman....

Who is there to come into that? Mal O'Kelly, and probably Ollie Le Roux when he arrives.

If Llanelli can do that to us what the bloody hell will Leicester and Toulouse do?

The black times could be back for Irish rugby for a while.

Backs were awful tonight. Apart from Kearney who showed willing. Fitzgerald didn't get a decent pass all night. Sexton doesn't look like the answer to our out half problems. My old ma could kick better than him.

    Heaven knows I'm miserable now.

No harm with a kick in the hole to some of these players.

I'm surprised just how poor Gomez appears to be, he's got Puma honours and has played for Stade, yet looked like he was breathing through his arse for most of the game.

On the plus side, another big crowd, can't wait for a HCup game in the RDS.

the crowd might be great but the match might be a ****ing nightmare.

can someone plz answer this query.....

the leinster match last night lasted for 90 mins, the matches in wc last for 80 mins.

so what is the offical length of time for a rugby match??

80 mins, philstar. Setanta can't be bothered to stop the clock when the ref calls "time off", hence the 90 minute games we regularly see on Setanta. It's very annoying.
I'm surprised just how poor Gomez appears to be, he's got Puma honours and has played for Stade, yet looked like he was breathing through his arse for most of the game.

On Setanta they were asking the legitimate question of who exactly is scouting these players for Leinster. Thing is, he has 2/3 nothing caps for Argentina, and I think he barely played for Stade aside from a terrible outing against Bourgoin.

So what was the basis of Leinster signing him? "He's an Argie, he must be good?" Did any of the Leinster set-up go to see him play for Los Matreros?

Hopefully he'll improve, but I fear another season of average-poor scrum performance for Leinster, while Cian Healy sits on his hole. He may as well be in there if the 'senior' players aren't performing. We'll see...

the clock is stopped for injuries and what not during the world cup but in reality the games often last 90 minutes.

Games are 80mins. (just last longer than that due to stoppages and injuries.

I was screaming blue murder in the stand for offside all night. What did it look like on the box?

The leinster lads looked reluctant to put their hands on the greasy ball all night.

i thought they were off side all night from the south stand (perfect viewing angle :D ) but it looked more like our ****e protection/pillars at rucks which allowed Llanelli to get at the ball and spoil

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,987 ✭✭✭✭zAbbo

The Clock at the RDS isn't something I'd go by, there was another 5 or so minutes played when it went to 40 at each half, but thats due to it not being synced with the refs time on/off.

There was poor protection of the ball at rucks

Im gonna be away for most of the season so got bargain basement package of ticket...boy you get what you pay for. The terrace was brytal, unless right up against the hoardings and there are so many pillars and the covered terrace obstrcuting vision from alot of the field.

If it was any busier and I could not have run from one end of the terrace to the other at the back, to keep a good view Ill have to make sure im there an hour early and up at the hoarding with the kids next time...

yep..i remember it from last time. My Girlie couldn't see a thing in there. That's why i didn't consider it a viable option for this year.

Officially there was 47 minutes played in the first half and 53 in the second. A bit OTT I think as Leinster were never going to claw back that lead.

Llanelli we up very quickly and were verging on offside but from where I was they were legally onside. Leinster very very. very poor.

Have to say the only good thing to come from friday night was that if you are in the terrace by the hoarding, the bush in just in front of the barrier makes an excellent drinks holder and could easily cater for my 3 pints meaning I didn't need to go back to the bar and also didn't have to hold my pint either.
