    I have a 3-year-old Dell Inspiron I inherited from my daughter when she finished uni. The fan's broken and it keeps overheating and crashing.
    Is it worth getting fixed, and if so where? Or should I just buy a new one?
    I use it mainly for internet so I don't need a high spec one if I'm buying new.

    Which fan is broken? There is at least one on the CPU, one exhaust fan, and sometimes there is one on the Graphics card?

    All are easily replaced as long as you buy one that is compatible and usually 2 or 4 screws and then a cable...

    If you are not happy doing it then ask a computer friend as most small shops could see an easy customer and overcharge for a fan replacement or they will "find" other issues :D
