Anyone catch this tonighht (BBC2), great fun and some of the smartest impressions I've seen of common targets for a while. If you don't know him here's his youtube "O News" vid

    O News

The period detailing in the sketches is just about the best I've seen outside big-buget drama.

Thought it was decent enough. Surprised there wasn't any laugh track or anything like you'd find on most of these types of shows and, to be honest, it made a nice change. Don't like to be "told", so to speak, when to laugh.

Thought his Cillit Bang/Barry Scott sketches were great, as was the 'Heads or Tails' WWTBAM piss-take sketch (he does a pretty good Chris Tarrant, doesn't he?).

Didn't like the 'Big Brother' sketch. Then again, i don't like 'Big Brother' anyway! :D

Will be interesting to see how the show develops and if it can keep up the momentum.

Its generally accepted by most brittish comedy fans that Brittish comedy has being killed by c4 and the BBC 3 generation and the pressure on Peter to give it a kiss of life last night was immense. Their was some corking gags mainly the Kitchen gun one but a lot felt flat especially rh Heads or tails and Sherlock Holmes one was cack.

C4 killing comedy? - some crap of course but hey what about Black Books, IT Crowd, Phoenix Nights, Garth Marenghi's Darkplace, That Peter Kay Thing, Big Train, Armstong and Miller. Heck loads!

hit and miss show, mostly miss sadly as I really liked him in Look Around You, Spaced etc. The robot chatshow was good, and his impressions of Michael Caine and Chris Tarrant were uncanny, big brother sketch was pointless and painful though.

Didn't help that Mitchell and Webb were on afterwards and were much funnier (I know that was a repeat, but I hadn't seen it first time round).

The majority of those shows have been about for a bit. A lot of their new shows are horrific. But I think of it as a bit of a lull rather than killing comedy. They'll have a second wind soon enough.

Not to mention Green Wing, one of my favourites.

Look forward to watching this show - saw him on "have I got news for you" recently, and he came across as very witty (didn't seem scripted either).

Sadly last nights programme was much poorer, the best bits being the less than impressive private investigator and his many cunning disguises and the Bealtes Let it Be (or Let it Out) parody. the Beatles would be a good joke to develope a la Vic 'n Bobs Slade-at-Home giggle.

Interesting how the guy who did the voice of Darth Maul is now doing Darth Vader sketches :)
