    Hi,

    My friend has just started a CAD course but has no previous knowledge of the system, just wondering if anyone would know any websites that have free downloads or tutorials to help familairse herself with it.

    Thanks....

    Most helpful thing to do is to get her to familiarize herself with the shortcuts and what each tool does. You're drawing using a computer so its a matter of learning how to use the computer. The rest she will pick up pretty quickly while doing projects.

    Good point. The keyboard is your friend.
    Z = zoom
    C = Circle
    L = Line
    R = Redraw
    etc etc.

    The commands above can also be edited to suit what suits you best.
    For example, I never use redraw so I changed R to rotate, other commands didn't have shortcuts as standard so i also made shortcuts for these.
    I imagine the your friend is using AutoCad, but all the info in this thread applies to other packages too, such as microstation or vectorworks
