I have a photo of me that i really like, but unfortunately when it was taken my skin was quite bad and so there are some noticeable spots etc - not helped by the completely perfect skin of the girl with me in the photo.

I thought it might be interesting to see if I could learn to "Airbrush" the photo like is done in all magazines etc.

I tried it using Pain Shop Pro but basically ended up using the colour picker and a 1px brush to try to blend, but it's not the best.

Can anyone tell me how to do it or point me to an appropriate tutorial etc?
    Thanks

Adobe Photoshop .. has a spot removal tool .. in it ... which is extremely easy to use as well as red eye reduction and so on ...
apart from that ... you want to ... get a blend of the colours you're going to use ... get a dirty ... brush shape ... use an opacity of around 10% when you're brushing it over ... keep resampling areas as well ... thats how I'd do it .. but then I'm not an expert ... :)

In photoshop you want to use the heal tool rather than the clone... perfect results...

that's not really airbrushing though it's more touching up you'd use those tools for spots and blemishes but for proper airbrushing you need to use masks and layers on photoshop (or GIMP - but I've never used this so I can't vouch for it) good tutorial here I found this one quite helpful too.
There are quite a few methods that people use - there's no one set way of doing this really
