Anyone remember this. It was classic cartoon.

Was it ever released on DVD?

A guy asked at work asked what i was up to the weekend.

I said the same thing i do every weekend , try to take over the world.

The whole place erupted in laughter and we started talking about the show.

Yeah, I remember it. A bit like Father Ted but with lab mice instead of priests :p They used to show it on the Cartoon Network all the time. Not sure if it was ever released on DVD.

Good cartoon alright, maybe not retro yet. ;) Wiki says re: DVD release, it looks like 3 volumes are available (maybe only in Region 1 though)...
The entire 65 episode run of Pinky and the Brain shows are now available in DVD sets through Warner Home Video. The sets divide the series by 21 or 22 episodes in chronological order instead of following the season breakdown due to the imbalanced size of each season.

Great show. I was watching it a few hours ago on bbc3. Some really clever jokes that I wouldn't have got when I was young.

The plot lines were totally insane though. One that I can remember: Brain decides to build the worlds tallest billboard to hypnotise everyone that drives near it, so that they'll vote for him when he runs for president. The thing is he needs a huge amount of steel to build it and works out the only way to get all the steel is to dress up as a cross breed of animal (I think it was a frogalope of something) and claim ownership of a mining town. but his plan turns sour when the locals find out they're not really forgalopes and hunt them down. Mad stuff.

    Stephen Spielberg directed these?

    Wow.

Feckin' genius cartoon, but hardly retro?

I remember one in which he wanted to rule the world, so he built an entire paper maché world adjacent to the real thing, and convinced the enitre population of earth to move there by offering free t-shirts. Once everyone was settled in to the new world and Brain ruled the real world, a comet struck and and destroyed real earth, and they had to move to the paper maché world.
