usb adapter problem!

my usb adapter shuts down my computer every time i connect it to my usb . any ideas why this is happenin? cud it be my firewall r usb driver?

It could be a hardware problem on the USB port. I had one on my machine where every time I plugged anything into one particular USB port I got a BSOD. Reninstalling the drivers did not reslove it.
