I got a timetable from Dundalk IT and it has times to and from Dublin. There's a time from Dublin which says 7.15am however whenever I ask anybody working in Bus Eireann about this they don't seem to know anything about this "mystery" bus. Anyone able to shed some light on this?

There are buses ex-Dublin on the 100X at 0700 and 0800 but none at 0715.

Was this an official Bus Éireann timetable or one that the DIT made up themselves?

It's an official one. It says SUX on the top of the 7.15 one but I don't know what it means.

SUX I suspect might mean Sundays excluded or something like that. Is 0715 the time it leaves Dundalk IT?

No it's the time it leaves Dublin.

I don't know what timetable you are checking out man but to re-iterate KC61, the 100 Dublin Dundalk has a 7AM departure. There is a 100 Drogheda-Dunlalk service via Castlebellingham, but it leaves on the hour at quarter to. The 1 Expressway leaves at 7AM but does not stop in Dundalk. The 101 (Drogheda) has a 7:20AM service, it is the nearest to the 7:15AM you refer to.

Any chance the timetable the college gave to you is out of date?

There was an 0715 departure in the old timetable (having checked my records) on the 100X via Castlebellingham, but that appears to have been stopped.

It looks like you have been given the old timetable - log on to http://www.buseireann.ie/site/your_journey/printed_timetables.asp and select the appropriate timetable for the current service.

The bus eireann bus from Dublin to Dundalk is hellish! Takes forever...

Would you not just get Matthew's bus? Quicker and cheaper...

Most of the express bus 100X from dublin to Dudalk will stop at the college if you ask the driver. above is the timetable. :D

    Hey,

I had that timetable you're referring to; threw it out yesterday. BUT, I dug it up again to look for you.

The words above it are SXC, and the key below says Mon-Fri College Term Only.

So yes, there should be a bus leaving at 7.15, arriving at Dundalk 8.50 (it doesn't go to the airport either). It's the 100X. Maybe they've changed it or something.

    Matt

Never get Bus Eireann when going from Dundalk to Dublin. Takes about 3 times longer than the Matthews Coach.

    Always get the Matthews Coach

Would my free travel pass work with them?
Thanks by the way for the replies.

Yes Matthews takes the free travel pass too.

    Total and utter rubbish.

Matthews is scheduled for 1h30 Bus Eireann 1h35, apart from BE serving the Airport they take almost exactly the same route.

Some Matthews buses go straight to Dundalk and they bypass Drogheda. Even in Drogheda they take a very different route to the Bus Eireann one.

Going to Dublin: They both leave dundalk onto the motorway, the matthews coaches (Dundalk/drogheda/Dublin) bus slips of mainly via monsterboice into Drogheda town (church in main street) for a drop off/collection while the Bus Eireann goes into the Depot at Drogheda. They both go up the Donore Road onto the motorway towards Dublin (Matthews picks up at the pub at the tope of the Donore Road). Bus Eireann takes the slip road into the airport and comes back out somtimes via Santry or back onto motorway (depending on traffic) and straight through Drumcondra, down onto O'Connell Street the same as Matthews. Matthews Coachs also have an express bus from Dundalk to Dublin direct (it does not stop in Drogheda).
