got this for a song on harmony central,

    2758723940055079378S600x600Q85.jpg

just ordered these tv jones filtertrons to put in it....
    1tvt.jpg

next up is the passive mid scoop/stacked tone pot
    mid_scoop_big.jpg

i plan to dump the rhythm circuit altogether and add the guts of this instead

    http://www.buildyourownclone.com/bender.html
(it's the edwin collins "girl like you" fuzz)

then i'll need a pickguard something very like this

    jaguar_pickgaurd.jpg

next up is a sparkly blue paint job!
    59StratBlu%20003.jpg

should take me a few months to do!

Where did you get the body again?
    On the Harmony Central forums?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,355 ✭✭✭punchdrunk

keyser i got it from the for sale section on harmony central £235 shipped from the u.k for the body, neck, tuners, mustang bridge, three chrome control plates
i didn't mind that it had no pickups as i was putting in the gretsch pickups and i hated the japanese pickups on my other jag anyway

some of the stuff can but i searched high and low in dublin for stuff like triple pole footswitches and you can't get them anywhere, also alot of the parts like the germaniums ect aren't used in everyday electronics anymore so these are quite tricky to find

so what does everyone think of this colour?

pickguard is going to be dark tortoise red/brown

Yeah I've TV Classics in my Gretsch. You're right on the money for that sound. They're really versatile pickups but they excel in the old school sounds, which is right up my alley. They're not hot pickups, but they kill when you've a bit of crunch going.

Punchdrunk! Just wondering, wheres the sales section on Harmony Central? Been looking for it, but can't find it?

:( Too bad. I like sparkly things. And polka-dots. And bright primary colors.

But what you settled on is cool too. :)

i think it'll be a while before i can paint,if it's too cold when you spray it'll be a crap job

Don't go too mad with the sander, I prefer doing the last few steps by hand. Nicer finish and all that crap. :)

oh it'll be a sanding block and 800 grit wet & dry all the way!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 10,817 ✭✭✭✭Dord

Good schtuff! :) Take plenty of pictures.

800 grit wet sanding will still tear apart a finish when you're wetsanding it, be careful. i learned that lesson the hard way.

I think he meant the wood and not the paint finish. He needs to get the wood smooth before painting. :)

I still think it would have looked savage with the orginal "worn" paint job...

    Nice work so far though...
