Returning DVD to amazon.co.uk??

    Hi

I purchased a "used" DVD off a company on their .co.uk site and when i got it and opened the package, I noticed it was still in it's new wrapping, but alas it was sent from LA and so was a NTSC region 1 disc (i.e. doesnt work on a normal irish/UK DVD player) . Because it was on a UK site, I presumed it was a region 2 (playable) disc - but it's not!

Am i entitled to return it and get a full refund for it, given that it is still in it's plastic wrapping?

any replies will gratefully be accepted!

Ordinarily used in terms of buying enters the region of buyer beware. However as pointed out by the consumer association in last weekends independent ,online buyers have alot more rights than in bricks & mortar shops.
Generally you'll have the standard 7-14 days cooling off period in which to return the item. Again as its used it may not be applicable. Since it's still unopened there could be a chance.
You'll have to contact the seller however to authorise the return via an RMA. (Return Material Authorisation) or you could end up out of pocket & DVD. Check their returns policy - all reputable sites have them.

    As an alternative try
    http://www.videohelp.com/dvdhacks?dvdplayer=philip&hits=50&next=50

It has codes to unlock your dvd player and make it region free.

Amazon.co.uk does not sell second hand dvd's. The DVD's are sold by third party sellers on Amazon marketplace. I have bought several DVD's from marketplace (new, US tv series not avaliable here) and it has always been made clear that the item is being shipped from the US and is region 1.
