Is there a safe way to do this? The thing's ancient and my folks want to get rid of it. Theres probably a few personal finance docs on it and I'd like to get rid of anything personal before sending it to the dump I suppose. I don't have the original OS on disc, so I'm not sure how to format.

create a disc with dban, that will securely wipe the hard drive

Cheers lads. Don't think it's Pentium 3! I'll try that D Boot thing, cheers. It's not a massive deal if it doesn't work.

Hmmm I tried installing it on a floppy drive. Haha, floppy, archaic eh! It doesn't seem like it wants to co-operate, something about an 'older utility'.

was this creating the disc or trying to boot the disc

might just be best to just remove the hard disk and hit it a few times with a hammer,

will be easier and more fun :D

It was creating the disc. I already told my dad to take it apart - he loves taking stuff apart.
